Studio E Office
Creative agency John McNeil Studio occupies five separate spaces within a square block in West Berkeley. As they continued to grow, they found they needed additional workspaces as well as private offices and a formal conference room. For an agency that thrives on collaboration across disciplines, the challenge was to integrate the private spaces without leaving open areas feeling cramped or siloed.
For the buildout of Studio E, color and material define two primary volumes inserted into the space. Sloping ceilings, gray felted surfaces and continuous bands of whiteboard exaggerate depth and create visual continuity across glass partitions. The felted surfaces help to deaden noise and provide a contrasting background for the smooth white eraserboard.
